Hyland's rides the hoarse right out of town

A couple of weeks ago, I started losing my voice. Sometimes it was fine; other times it was quite hoarse. As a voice-over talent, this is problematic. Especially with my narrations as Maya Ray for iStoryBooks. My usual jovial and kind, "Hi! I'm Maya. What's your name?" beginning to each narration came out froggy, thus totally unacceptable.

Not only that, but it was the week leading up to Easter. On Good Friday, my husband and I were singing at the service at Northgate Church in Pittsburgh. On Easter Sunday, I was singing with the choir at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services.

But my voice didn't care. At all. It was rough and at times I'd try to sing a note and the note simply wasn't there.

The weird thing was, I didn't have any other symptoms. No sore throat. No runny nose. Not even itchy eyes. Still, when I opened a package I received from Hyland's, I immediately twisted off the cap of the Seasonal Allergy Relief and popped a couple tablets under my tongue. A short time later, my voice returned. Throughout the week, I continued to take the Allergy Relief tablets whenever the hoarseness returned. By Friday, I was able to sing, and Sunday morning proved to be no problem. Hyland's did it for me again!

They say that this spring is really bad for allergies, at least it is here in south western Pennsylvania. That's why I'm super happy to have a safe remedy without side effects (like drowsiness) for my husband and me (yes, he's been popping them, too!) and for my grandchildren who have been suffering with various symptoms.

While the FDA may be leery of homeopathic remedies, I am not. I would much rather put something natural in my body than load it up with the chemicals pushed on us by the pharmaceutical companies. Do I ever take prescription or OTC meds? Yes. However, if given a choice between a Hyland's product and something from the big drug companies, I'll choose Hyland's every time.

Hyland's 4Kids Allergy Relief helps relieve itchy nose and throat, itchy and watery eyes, runny nose, and sneezing. In other words, it provides much needed relief to your kids when they're feeling miserable due to the pollen, pet dander, dust, etc. And the adult formula does the same for grown ups and children over 12 years old.

Hooray for Hyland's. You will forever hear me singing their praise! And my voice won't sound froggy at all!

As a mother and grandmother, I am constantly researching healthier living options, which include being proactive in preventing diseases and conditions. My use of homeopathic remedies has spanned decades and is the reason I’m thrilled to be a Hyland’s Healthmaker. Let’s not just treat our health conditions, let’s do everything we can to prevent them.

Allergies. Yuck. It just gets old after awhile, doesn't it? You're going along with your day and suddenly, BAM! it hits you. Watery eyes, runny nose, scratchy throat. Sometimes it's manageable and other times it really knocks you for a loop and it's off to bed you go. Ever have that happen?

Fortunately for me, I just open my cupboard and pull out my Hyland's basket of goodies quickly. Then I determine what I need and I take it at the first sign of a sniffle. This time of year, I'll be reaching for the Hyland's Seasonal Allergy Relief, knowing it will give me just that --
R E L I E F! If I feel a headache coming on with some sinus pressure, I opt for the Hyland's DEFEND Sinus. Either way, I know I'll be covered and can get on with the more important things in my life.
I always have some of the kids' formula on hand as well, in case one of the grandkids starts sneezing. I really don't understand why anyone would opt for the conventional OTC meds when there is a natural homeopathic formula available.

This week, Hyland's is giving away some free allergy products on their Facebook page. They want you to know that you, too can conquer spring allergies with Hyland's. Just take the quiz to enter to win!

Here are the questions:

1. True or False. You will outgrow your allergies.

2. Which symptoms develop faster, allergy or cold symptoms?

3. How can you tell the difference between allergy or cold symptoms?

Not sure of the answers? Head over to the Hyland's FB page by clicking here and discover what you need to know about allergies. Keep in mind, Hyland's will not be offering medical advice. They won't try to diagnose exact symptoms. All they're doing is offering some practical and helpful information that just might take you down a flower-strewn path without so much as a gentle achoo!

Conquer Spring Allergies Naturally with Hyland's

It happened. I woke up with a sore throat, itchy eyes and a runny nose. It's spring.

So, I headed my basket of Hyland's Homeopathic goodies, certain there would be something in there to address my seasonal allergy issues. I pulled out the Complete Allergy 4Kids, read the instructions, and took the recommended dosage for adults (yes, adults can take the kids' formulas; they just take a bit more). After an hour or so, it dawned on me that I was no longer suffering from any of the symptoms of springtime allergies. I was thrilled.

Here are the natural ingredients the Complete Allergy 4Kids contains:
  • Aconitum Napellus 6X HPUS
  • Alllium Cepa 6X HPUS
  • Euphrasia 6X HPUS
  • Galphimia Glauca 12X HPUS
  • Histaminum Hydrochloricum 12X HPUS
  • Luffa Operculata 12X HPUS
  • Natrum Muriaticum 6 HPUS
  • Nux Vomica 6X HPUS
  • Sabadilla 6X HPUS
  • Pulsatilla 6X HPUS
While the names might sound a bit toxic, I can assure you, they are not. These homeopathic remedies treat all the symptoms of allergies, including: pain and swelling in face; itchy throat; sneezing; hay fever; runny nose; watery, itchy, burning eyes; nasal inflamation; nasal discharge; feeling of blocked ears; sinus pain; headache; ear pain; dark circles under eyes; itchy nose; and sinus pressure.

Later this morning, I was out on my porch reading and the spring boring bees (as in boring wood, not boring personalities) started buzzing around my head. I tried to ignore them. Then I thought about how long it's been since I've been stung. Decades, I believe. I wondered if I've developed an allergy to bees yet. I know people who, after a childhood of stepping on bees in their bare feet in fields of clover, are now allergic to them. One man who went to my high school, actually died from a bee sting. That's scary. So I decided I would start carrying Hyland's Hives formula with me in my purse. Even if I never need it, someone else might. And I can attest to how Hyland's apis mellifica works in the worst cases of hives I've experienced. So, I'm going to pick up a bottle of Hives tablets the next time I'm at a store that carries them.

How about you? Have you discovered the wonders of Hyland's Homeopathic products yet? With all the pollens in the air, you never know when spring allergies might rear their ugly head. Hyland's has graciously given me a link to pass on some savings to you. Download this coupon for $1 off your next Hyland's Allergy Product purchase (Seasonal Allergy Relief, Complete Allergy 4Kids, DEFEND Sinus, Hayfever, Hives, or Calendula Spray). And if you're not sure where to find Hyland's, check out this easy store locator.

Are you ready to conquer spring allergies naturally with Hyland's? Or have you already discovered how wonderful their products are? If so, why not pop in to their Facebook page or website and let them know. After all, everyone needs to hear a little bit of affirmation from time to time, don't you think? Or, better yet, find Hyland's on Amazon.com and post a review. Reviews help the company figure out what's working for their customers... and what isn't.

While you're at it, why not let me know what Hyland's products you absolutely love? I'm always up for trying something else of theirs, based on recommendations from you. So what do you recommend?

Looking forward to reading your comments,

Achoo...it's that time of year

The month of April seems to be a bit bi-polar at times, with mood swings from sunny and warm to dreary and cold. Perhaps that's why your little one's nose is running. Or, could it be seasonal allergies? Of course, if he's under the age of two, you can probably rule out hay fever, as it rarely affects children that young.

So how do you know if your child is suffering from allergies or simply has another cold?

First of all, if there's a family history of allergies, asthma or eczema, his chances to avoid allergies just diminished.

Secondly, if you notice the symptoms getting worse on days when there's an elevated pollen count (watch the news for this info), allergies are probably the culprit.

Thirdly, if he has the following symptoms, you may want to contact your pediatrician for a referral to an allergist:
  • Rash -- any type of rash anywhere on his body
  • Constant congestion that's been going on for a week or more.
  • A normal temperature and active kiddo
  • Watery eyes he just can't stop rubbing
  • Ear infection (often associated with seasonal allergies)
It's not my intention to be the bearer of bad news...after all, maybe it is just a cold. But with all the plants experiencing their rebirth, your little one just might have inherited more than his blue eyes from you or his dazzling smile from his daddy.

Now excuse me while I go and wipe my nose...on a delicately embroidered cloth hankey, by the way. Remember, cloth isn't just for diapers and grocery bags!

Keeping you informed,

Hana
