Let us break bread together -- there are some amazing benefits

Do you eat at least one meal per day with your kids? What about your teenagers? Did you know there are not only emotional and social benefits for teens who dine with their parents, but there are physical perks as well?


Dining together... it's not an old-fashioned concept!

According to a study published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, teenagers who share a meal with a family member or two six or seven times each week have a lower BMI (body mass index) than their peers who dine alone. Of course, we know that obesity increases the risk of heart disease and Type 2 diabetes, as well as certain cancers). The study also showed that families who dined together overall had lower blood pressure and cholesterol. 

Moral of the story: Gather your family around the table as often as possible. It's flat out good for all.
