I've been looking at other hybrids and must say I am impressed with Toyota's new Prius c. It's snazzy, it's eco-advanced, and it's relatively inexpensive (as far as new cars go). If you're someone who doesn't need all the bells and whistles, you can drive away in a Prius c for around $20k. With estimated mpg at 53 on the highway and 46 locally, the gas savings would be significant.
I love that this, like other hybrids, is an environmentally responsible vehicle. The Toyota Prius c uses Hybrid Synergy Drive, which is a combo of gasoline engine and electric motor. They can work independently or simultaneously. What that means is really good gas mileage. And, of course, the Prius c is rated as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV). That's just a fancy title for a car that produces fewer smog-forming emissions than our typical gasoline-powered new cars. Seriously, what's not to love about these cars?
The next time I'm in the market for a new car, I'll definitely be checking out the local Prius c inventory. And if I decide to buy one, I hope I can get the orange one (habanero), shown above. There's something about that color that makes me want to hop in the car and take a road trip.
In the meantime, I guess I'll just dream.
