The Novica Gift Finder

For Christmas this year, why not buy gifts that change lives? Novica, in association with National Geographic, offers a wide range of fair trade gifts that truly make a difference in the lives of families across the globe.

Novica has launched 'Gift Finder' for the holiday season. Narrow down your gift choices by specific categories to make shopping for that special someone even easier! The categories include:

  • Region
It's nice to know you can pick a region of interest, such as the Andes, Central America, Thailand, West Africa, India, Mexico, or Bali and Java, and find a unique gift while truly making a difference in the life of the artisan.

Novica contacted me and asked me if I would make all of you aware of this new feature on their website. Of course, I was honored to do so. I believe in the mission of Novica and I'm hoping many of you will see the value of shopping with them as well. Their shipping fees are quite reasonable ($2.99 for many items). As a thank you for this post, Novica sent me a $30 gift certificate to their site. I used it to buy a unique reusable bag that I can't wait to start toting around! I'm expecting some comments on it while shopping and I'll be sure to tell folks where it came from. An artisan from Bali and Java named Wahyu Sulistiani crafted this beautiful tote bag. I will think of her often as I shop, grateful that an organization like Novica is providing a way for her to help support her family.

Here is part of what Wahyu says about herself on the website:

"People know me as someone who is always keen to learn new things and new techniques, and I am a pretty woman! I was born on June 1st, 1973 in Bojonegoro, East Java and I come from a loving family who taught me that I must work hard if I want to succeed in life. Now I am married and we have a lovely daughter...

"...I hope that by joining Novica I can improve our family's quality life and provide my daughter with a better education."

Doesn't that give Christmas shopping a whole new perspective?

To help you along with your holiday shopping, Novica is offering a $30 gift certificate to one lucky GG reader. Maybe it will be you! Just enter on the Rafflecopter below. The contest begins now and ends at midnight on Dec. 9th. That way, I can announce a winner on Monday morning and the winner will still have time to get their package by Christmas. Of course, a $30 gift certificate to Novica is an awfully nice Christmas present as well, so maybe some lucky friend or relative of the lucky winner will find one wrapped under the tree. Lucky. Lucky. Lucky!
