Green America's People & Planet Awards... vote now!

Do you remember Green Kid Crafts? I featured a review/giveaway back in May. Well, the company is a finalist in Green America’s People and Planet Awards. How awesome is that?! They were chosen out of a green pool of nearly 250 applicants! The three companies with the most votes will win $5,000 each, and I'm hoping the Green Grandma community will help Green Kid Crafts rise to the top!

Anyone who votes and then visits their blog and leaves a comment letting them know about your support, will be entered in a drawing to win a Discovery Box. Every few days throughout the month of August, they will select winners at random.

So, get out there and vote... or just sit there and click on your mouse. Show your support for an innovative mom (Penny Bauder, CEO and Founder of Green Kid Crafts) who is doing her best to make this a greener, and funner, planet for our little ones!

Green Kid Crafts Announced as a Finalist in Green America’s People and Planet Awards!

Green Kid Crafts, a mom-owned, earth-friendly kids craft subscription service, has been selected as one of ten finalists in Green America’s People & Planet Awards, which will open for voting on August 2nd at www.greenamerica.org/peopleandplanet.

As an environmentalist and a working mother of two young children, Penny Bauder saw a need for a convenient solution that would allow parents and kids to spend quality time together enjoying activities that spark creativity and cultivate respect and love for the environment. She founded Green Kid Crafts in 2010 to fill this need with fun, creative and earth-friendly craft activity kits, called “Discovery Boxes,” which the company sends out monthly to subscribers and gift recipients.

Green Kid Crafts was selected from hundreds of People and Planet Award nominations to be one of ten finalists, three of which will win a $5,000 prize. The award was established to recognize innovative entrepreneurial U.S. businesses that deeply integrate environmental and social considerations into their strategies and operations. The three winners will be determined by public vote at www.greenamerica.org/peopleandplanet -- we ask all interested parties to log on and vote for Green Kid Crafts before August 31st. Winners will be announced in September.

Since its inception, Green Kid Crafts has strived to be a model for social and environmental responsibility. The company is certified carbon neutral, Green America Approved and uses natural, sustainable materials in its products. Further, the company works with local chapters of the Boys and Girls Club to donate craft supplies and free art classes to underprivileged children, and donates time and skills to empower women through mentorship programs in Alaska where the company is based.
