Twenty-one years have passed by
easily
as we’ve struggled
and fought
and laughed our way through them.
Transitions --
there have been many --
have challenged us
tipping our equilibrium
a little to the left
and then the right.
Complacency
never lasting long enough to equal boredom
and anxiety
not long enough to equal despair.
It’s been good.
It’s been bad.
It pretty much looks like every other marriage out there.
The difference is…
this one’s mine
and it’s his
and it’s ours.
And that, my friends,
is what makes today worth noting.
For richer or poorer
in sickness and in health
to love and to cherish
to love and to cherish.

What a lovely way to celebrate the ups and downs of lasting love. You ought to do a blog on how to keep romance alive!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to do better than than, Jan. Besides, one blog is more than enough!
