This week's Review it Wednesday is delightfully scented

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I was given product and/or compensation in exchange for the possibility of a review. I was under no obligation to write a positive, or otherwise, review. The opinions expressed are my own.

I was excited when Nancy at Ava Anderson Non-Toxic offered to send me some more products to review. I've reviewed items from the company in the past and looked forward to another shot at it.

This time, I wanted to try out their line of fragrances. For obvious, toxic reasons, I stopped wearing fragrance years ago and, quite honestly, miss it. Knowing the company's commitment to safe, toxin-free products, made me eager to see if I could find a fragrance I'd enjoy wearing again.

I wasn't disappointed.

Nancy sent me all three of the avaSCENT fragrance oils:
  • hope fragrance oil -- fruity with passion flower in the heart notes accentuated by its notes of orris, blond sandalwood, and cacao
  • love fragrance oil -- sweet scents of sambac jasmine, rose, and iris with a touch of jacaranda wood and Madagascar vanilla
  • joy fragrance oil -- blends of grapefruit, black currant, mandarin, and other essential oils
Based on the above descriptions from the website, I expected to like the love fragrance oil the best. I was right. It's actually my choice above the other two every single day. It's light and woody, reminiscent of a solid perfume I wore back in the 70s. Isn't it weird how a scent can carry you back in time like that?

Next to that one, my second favorite is the citrusy scent of joy fragrance oil, followed closely by the light floral scent of hope fragrance oil

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying wearing fragrance again. With my chemical sensitivities and my asthma, few things bother me more than being around someone who is doused in a toxic perfume or cologne. I had one woman in my Sunday School class who I couldn't sit close to because of her cologne. And she knew it. It was dreadful.

I know there are some people who cannot handle any fragrances at all, even if they're from essential oils, so it's nice that these three are not overpowering (unless, of course, you overdo it). I like putting the love fragrance oil on before I go to bed at night so I can smell it throughout the night.

What makes Ava Anderson Non-Toxic roll-on fragrances different from store bought colognes or perfumes? Unlike other sprays and perfumes, which can contain 90% alcohol, the avaSCENT line has no harmful chemicals or alcohol. None. They are formulated with 100% pure essential oils from around the world, which is interesting because when I put on the fragrance and close my eyes, my mind takes a mini vacation of its own.

Priced at just $19.95 for .33 oz., these fragrances would make excellent stocking stuffers for the girls and women on your list. Christmas is just a few months away after all. It's not too soon to be loading up your gift closet.

And while you're shopping for others, you might want to check out the other amazing products on the website. My personal favorites include:

  • Shampoo
  • Detangler
  • Styling Cream
  • Dishwasher Detergent -- my personal favorite! Click here to read my review of these marvelous little pods.

There's no getting around the fact that I really like this company, and Nancy is a terrific consultant. If you sign up for her newsletter, you'll be privy to her monthly specials and personal promotions, which are fantastic!

  1. How long would you say the scent lasts on your skin?

I've been looking at reviews of different fragrances. Of course, I want to get something that is toxin-free and relatively inexpensive. Most of the scents that fit that description have reviews that say the scent doesn't last very long.

    1. I find that it lasts most of the day. I put some on at around 8 this morning. It's now close to 1:30 and the scent is still there. It's lighter than it was, but it's definitely there.
