We're celebrating World Breastfeeding Week here on the blog from now through August 7th. There will be stories, a poem, and giveaways to promote what I think is the best nutrition a person can have to start out their days here on this earth. I, myself, was formula fed. My firstborn, who I placed adoption, was formula fed. My two daughters, however, were breastfed for 12 months each, exclusively for their first six months. My three grandchildren are also breastfed.
It is not my intention to make anyone feel as though they are "less of a mom" or that they deprived their children if they did not nurse their kids. I simply want to encourage moms-to-be to consider breastfeeding, and honor all those mamas out there who roughed it out during those first few difficult days or weeks or months. It's not always easy, as few things in mothering are. After all, it starts with labor!
So let's kick things off with a giveaway from the good mamas at Earth Mama Angel Baby, who were happy to donate a Breastfeeding Essentials Bundle to one lucky reader. Just enter on the Rafflecopter below.
And good luck!
US Only Must be at least 18 to enter.

I love that I am providing for my daughter. For me that is a triumph, as the first two times I was not able to breastfeed.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for not giving up, Renae!
DeleteI love being able to provide the best nutrition for my son. (And not having to wash bottles hehe)
ReplyDeleteAny way to cut down on chores around the house, right, Kelly?!
DeleteI loved snuggling with my babies when it was time for them to nurse. To steal a line from Pioneer Woman, I nearly lactate at the sight of a fresh-faced baby.
ReplyDeleteI especially liked the middle-of-the-night feedings. There was something very special about it.
DeleteI love the sweetness of her little face and snuggles, after she's fallen asleep at the breast. I also love that at 15 months, she's started calling them her Bobbies ♥ I don't so much love the rubber band affect...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you had to place your first sweet babe for adoption. Whatever the circumstances, I am sure that was not an easy decision *hugs*
Thanks, Alena. The story of our reunion 23 years later is in the recently released CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION READER'S CHOICE book.
Deletei love the bond it creates with your child and the comfort it gives them.
ReplyDeleteNothing like it. :)
DeleteI love most that breastfeeding my daughter has empowered me in many ways. Its opened my eyes to the benefits, made me more confident and brave to stick up for myself and others who are criticized for it, and most importantly, gives my daughter and I a great bonding relationship
ReplyDeleteEmpowerment is good. :)
DeleteI love snuggle time the most!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I loved that, too. Can't believe it's been nearly 3 decades since I last nursed my baby!
DeleteI love the forced stop nursing my son and the time to snuggle and relax... and it will be an adventure tandem nursing a toddler and a newborn in a few months!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an exciting challenge!
DeleteThat no one else can spend that time with her!
ReplyDelete:)
Deletebonding and spending uninterrupted time together. :)
ReplyDeleteUninterrupted time... what a valuable gift!
DeleteI look forward to providing quality nutrition for my baby while bonding with him.
ReplyDeleteThe best nutrition there is!
DeleteLove the closeness and the knowledge of knowing I am providing the best possible food for my baby!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly are, Laura!
DeleteI love that I always have food for my baby no matter where we are. With an active 2 year old and my 9 month old I always manage to forget something when I leave the house; but I never have to worry that I have forgotten food or formula for my baby.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder why people refer to breastfeeding as "inconvenient." It's the most convenient thing ever!
DeleteI love not having to wash one more thing. I have enjoyed nursing all my babes to sleep.
ReplyDeleteRebecca Rose
There's nothing like a sleeping baby, content in your arms after you've filled his/her belly!

ReplyDeletei'm looking forward to not having to pay for formula! also, all the health benefits for baby.
Free is good!
DeleteMy sister is!
ReplyDeleteGo, sis!
Deletei love how portable it is :)
ReplyDeleteGood point!
DeleteI love that the breastmilk does not seem to cause as much gas as formula.
ReplyDeleteOf course, sometimes that depends on what mama eats. :)
DeleteI love being able to give my children the best possible nutrition available and the loving cuddles that happen as well.
ReplyDeleteThere's no question that it's the best possible nutrition!
