TGIVF!
The weather's growing a bit cooler... at least in the evenings... here in Western PA. I've spent the past several days in a cottage in the beautiful Laurel Highlands and it's been downright chilly at night! Which made me think about fall comfort food. So I thought it would be a good time to share a recipe from my book, which is perfect for this time of year.
Enjoy!

Green Grandma's Slow-cooker Sausage and Apples
1 lb. smoked sausage, sliced or cubed
1 apple, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
1 medium to large Mayan or Vidalia onion, cut in large pieces
4 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
4 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
3 Tbsp. brown sugar (adjust to taste)
2 Tbsp. honey
Toss ingredients in a large bowl and transfer to slow cooker. Cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 4-5 hours.
This is good served over rice and/or with freshly baked bread with apple butter. Yum.
Keeping it yummy with vinegar,
Hana
