A word from a Phipps' Master Gardener

Pittsburghers and beyond! Claire Schuchman, who offered us wonderful tips on preparing your garden soil a few weeks ago, has some news you don't want to miss. With Mother's Day coming up on Sunday, here is the perfect way to honor your mom!

Phipps May Market

Here in Pittsburgh, organic gardening is made a little bit easier because we have the Phipps May Market, held at the Conservatory in Schenley Park. The grounds are beautiful, the cafe will be open and you can walk through the Summer Flower Show for half-price admission. While not every vendor features organic seedlings, many do, and the selection is wonderful. This is an event I never miss; there really is something here for every kind of gardener. There is even a flea market boutique, that never fails to yield a treasure that goes into my cart. Bring your own wagon or get there early enough to use one of Phipps wagons. For a complete list of vendors and more info, visit the Phipps website. Come have some fun!!

May Market, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 11 and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 12, is free and open to the public. Here is a list of this year's vendors:
